OLIVERA Abogados usually participates in cases which demand a great deal of sophistication in analysis and strategy.
Most of our cases are focused on commercial issues, for which our firm is best known, especially disputes related to antitrust matters, IP rights in the pharmaceutical sector, distribution and agency agreements and disputes between shareholders. Olivera Abogados has an extensive track record in conflicts between shareholders, especially in family businesses. Our firm also has a very strong record in antirust matters.
OLIVERA Abogados has a significant litigation department regularly involved in judicial proceedings linked, among others, to our clients’ business activities, labor relations, medical malpraxis, and relationships with the Government.
The Firm has significant experience in arbitration proceedings, both local and international, processed under national or foreign jurisdiction.
Olivera Abogados has a strong local and international arbitration practice, and has represented clients in arbitration proceedings under the local rules of the Chamber of Commerce of Montevideo, as well as ICC Rules, LCIA Rules, the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration and AAA Rules.
Dr. Ricardo Olivera García is frequently appointed as an arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations, under domestic procedural rules and under the Rules of the International Court of Arbitration (ICC). He was an arbitrator in diverse conflicts between the member countries of MERCOSUR, which were processed under the arbitrational regime established in the Brazilian Protocol and in the Permanent Review Tribunal of MERCOSUR. He is also the Founder of the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the National Chamber of Commerce, International Court of Arbitration for MERCOSUR.
